Snowbrush (Ceanothus velutinus) is an essential food source for mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) and Bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) and important for mule deer habitat enhancement. The abundance of this plant was positively affected in most of the burn after the 2009 forest fire, except where the fire was too hot and burned the soil too deep, here it had a negative impact. The purpose of this project is to enhance the winter habitat for mule deer and Bighorn sheep by rejuvenating the population of snowbrush. We have collected seeds for sowing so we can create a self-dependent propagation in the following years, thereby supporting the future populations of mule deer.
