Through horseback and aerial surveys we are monitoring population numbers, recruitment, demographics and trends with the goal to ensure healthy populations of mountain goats. This data allows detailed conservation strategies to be created and implemented.
With BC holding 52% of the world mountain goat population and this being a Blue Listed species, we have a particular responsibility to understand the threats facing mountain goats to aid in their conservation. Due to the rocky, steep nature of mountain goat habitat, aerial surveys are the most effective method of recording population numbers.
